NOBODY BUT YOU, LORD!

I am constantly reminded that my life and the circumstances surrounding it are the result of a Mighty God, His grace and tender mercies.  Take everything away, health, possessions, family and friends and their loving support, what is left is God . . . Nobody but you, Lord!

I am thankful for a loving and supportive wife, family and caring friends that I’ve become very dependent upon.  But they do what they do because the Lord has touched their lives in order to touch mine.  A few possessions that are nice and enough to sustain us with our basic needs  . . . ‘our daily bread.’

A closely knitted family  . . . imperfect, caring, and close, are such a blessing, along with Justin, our only grandchild, keeping us amazed and entertained.   They all contribute to the meaning and quality of our lives with so much love.  Grandmamma and Granddaddy are still with us with health, strength, wisdom and character to help all of us as a foundation to our lives.  What a blessing!

People don’t have to be friendly!  They don’t have to care or listen; they don’t have to be nice, or even contribute to our lives.  But countless friends, neighbors, allies, supporters, and associates lend their prayers to God on our behalf daily.  They do meaningful things to demonstrate compassion and commitment to our well-being.  That is a blessing from the Lord.  Nobody but the Lord!

Take away all of the stuff . . . material, family, and friends or otherwise, what is left is a God who cares!  Nobody but you, Lord!

Don’t just live out life always seeking things . . . “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.”   (Isaiah 55:6 NKJV) After all, He will be there in the end when the stuff is gone and you are all alone to stand before Him!

I think Psalm 90 sums it up well!

“Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.   Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God . . . Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your glory to their children.  And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands. ” Psalm 90:1-2; 16-17 NKJV
