Roads lead away from everything familiar, everything known, and everything already experienced into an unknown future, unknown and often unrecognized opportunities, experiences that are sometimes shrouded needing to be searched for and unveiled.  This road leads to life and all of its offerings for abundance, fulfillment, purpose and service for everyone courageous enough to travel thereon.  Covered by beauty at times, overwhelmed by the elements at other times, trees cover it with darkness, and sometimes the road may become a mere path through frightening forests or meander through dry and thirsty deserts.  But, travel you must, one step at a time and sometimes alone.

Everything unfamiliar becomes the norm and order of the day away from this scene of beauty.  But, such is life with its ever winding roads, expressways, paths, trails, highways, byways, or mere hikes in striking and challenging terrain, heading somewhere with new familiarities, new visions of beauty and possibility.

“We walk by faith, not by sight” – II Corinthians 5:7 NKJV

That is where life is . . . rich, beautiful, fulfilling and prosperous!  All that and more in the forever altering scenarios of that for which we all seek “. . . life and that they may have it more abundantly.”  — John 10:10 NKJV

Don’t allow what you see today engage you in fear or distress!  What you see on the road of life may be unfamiliar, but it is still rich with what will be new familiarities, new blessings, new opportunities, and new ways to trust God.

Trust God by walking on, though alarmed by unfamiliar observations or experiences, keep moving and don’t allow yourself to be arrested in time.  One step at a time, one day at a time, believing God for an outcome, deliverance, and a destination of purpose within His plans for your life.  Keep on walking by faith.

The local tornado warning siren’s weekly test and at the same time the donkey began his round of sounding out:  Honk, honk, honk, hoonk!   The noticeable sound of the wind chime gently rings as a calm breeze touched it for only a moment.  The tick-tocks of the clocks are heard keeping pace with the passing of time.  The refrigerator chimed in with its humming to say that I’m still on post to keep rations for a few meals and snacks.  The house settled in with a sound or two of cracks, still in place as residence and humble abode.  The crows sound out with their alarms in the distance. The ceiling fan brushed the air around with a gentle ‘swoosh’ to give freshness and chill to the air.  Of course, the air conditioner joined with the ceiling fan in a duet of movement and sound to make it more comfortable in the heat.  Passing vehicles out on the highway breaking the barriers of wind and space as they go to and fro with speed and direction . . . the world is still on the move.

All these and other sounds can be heard like a chorus of voices sounding out reality, life, the movement of time, even our existence.  Some needed, necessary to the function of life while others only mundane and menial, contributing little to life or its functions.  Like many voices that speak directly to us or from sources over the airwaves, some contributing while others serve only to make noisy sounds of rhetoric and empty deceptions.

What do you hear?

Can you hear also the voice of Another, one who speaks to the heart unlike anything or anyone.  A voice that rings everyday to speak truth to the soul that liberates; that speaks joy in one’s spirit to strengthen for the days of toil, challenge and endeavor; to speak purpose to life and experiences, both good and bad, giving meaning to all that must be endured.  “Be still, and know that I am God!” – Psalm 46:10 NLT

More than noise and sounds near and far can be heard.  But a voice both profound and powerful . . . the voice of the Lord still rings as in days of old.  In the quiet of morn, He speaks in the sounds of nature and the noise of cherished audibles, to make known His presence and His plans for this new day’s realities.

“Come, let us worship and bow down.  Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for He is our God. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care.  If only you would listen to His voice today!   Psalm 95:6-7 NLT

A plethora of noises confirm ‘it’s a new day dawning’ . . . with one Voice, speaking volumes in the quiet to the heart, confirming once again the reality of God, and confirming our own reality.

“. . . be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20b New Living Translation
